I work primarily with oil paint, watercolor, and pen and ink. The subject of my art work falls into two main categories. The first being traditional, representational oil painting on board and/or canvas. This includes: landscape, still life and portraiture.
The other area of focus is a more surreal, fantasy subject matter. This includes my children’s book illustrations as well as the two children’s books I have written and self-published, (view in the gallery titled Books).
I studied Fine Art and Illustration at The School of Visual Arts in New York City. After graduating I studied representational painting and anatomy on Merit Scholarship at The Art Student’s League, also in NYC . While studying there, I was selected for an apprenticeship with the painter Nelson Shanks. I spent 4 years studying in this focused setting developing my technical and artistic ability.
